Around the top end of Australia there are huge lengths of unfenced road. This coupled with the fact that most of the
freight is carried by long three-trailer road trains means that sometimes straying cattle are hit and killed.
It is a sad sight to see these dead animals. It is hard to stop it however. The cost of fencing all the roads would be huge, and with the trucks weighing over 120 tonnes, they just can't stop very quickly.
The truck drivers don't want to hit the animals. They often suffer extensive damage to their rigs from the collision.
So why this page?
Well, I became facinated with the animals, and decided to record some of their images. It is very sad, and yet it is still part of the totality of the world.
